A Turkish Sand Coffee Machine is a distinctive and traditional method of brewing coffee, often found in Turkey and surrounding regions. This unique device uses a large pan filled with sand, heated over a flame. The sand evenly distributes heat, creating a consistent temperature. Small coffee pots, usually made of copper or brass and known as ‘cezves’, are partially buried in the hot sand. The coffee grounds, together with water and sometimes sugar, are added to these pots. The intense heat of the sand quickly brings the coffee mixture to a boil, resulting in a strong, frothy brew, characteristic of Turkish coffee. This method is not only efficient but also provides a visually appealing process, often attracting viewers with its traditional and almost ritualistic preparation method.
